Do Mp3 Players Have A Future?

With the current pace of technology then our favorite gadgets have become smaller, easier to use and they have more functions than ever before. Take the iPod for instance, that has shrunk and shrunk over the years until now it is tiny compared to the first generation model, yet it can hold many times more data and has a whole host of new features like games and video playback that the original one did not.

In the future though I think all of our gadgets are going to start to get integrated so we don’t need to carry round so much. Like mobile phones right now can actually do a lot of what the iPod offers, as well as being able to do things they can’t like let you surf the internet, so why do we need a separate device to listen to music now? One thing that will happen though is these devices will continue to get thinner, I’m not too sure about smaller as you need the screen on a smart phone to be big if you want to browse the internet or play games, but their weight and thickness can certainly be changed.

Another thing is personalization, at the moment you can buy extra cases for your phone if you want to change how it looks, but in the future I hope they work out a way to make the case customizable from within the phone. They could maybe use AMOLED technology and graphene to create an exterior to the phone which could actually display whatever you wanted. Then you could download designs and have them displayed on the outside of your phone, or just have your favorite pics showing etc. With that kind of technology it would then be easy to match your phone to your outfit and if you have other brightly colored gadgets on you like pink headphones (visit PinkHeadphones.org for a great selection) then they can match them too.

The question is, will our mobile phones every replace our desktop computers? I really don’t see phones becoming the main computers we use, for a start then while they are getting more and more powerful then they will always lag behind the power of a real desktop computer, just like laptops do. Also they just aren’t as comfortable to use, they are ok when you are on the train or walking around, but when you get home you don’t want to use it. Something that could start to become commonplace in people’s homes though is a tablet computer. They are powerful and easy to use, with a much bigger screen to help you when you are browsing the web. At the moment though you need both a computer and a tablet so they can sync with each other, or at least you do with the Ipad, hopefully soon they will dispense with that as it seems a shame to force people to have both.

There are definitely a lot of exciting developments about the corner, one of the most anticipated things for mobile phones is the release of the new 4G networks. With that then hopefully our mobile phone will be able to get upload and download speeds as fast as our home computers get now, which means you can do pretty much anything on your phone, from online gaming with friends to even streaming movies to watch while you are on the train.
