How do I get and Kingston 8GB SDHC memory card to work for my camera?

I got a canon powershot sx130 is for Christmas an d my sister gave me a sdhc GB memory card or it when i put the card in ( the right way in) the camera says there is no memory card, I would try formatting it but when i try on the camera options I can’t click on it, Any ideas how i can get it to work?

Have you read your owner’s manual? Some smaller cameras aren’t capable of supporting a card that large. You should read the book. If it does take 8gb cards then there’s something not right with the card.
